EISI For Extreme Heat Online Tool
The EISI for Extreme Heat Online tool is a free, interactive web application that streamlines the process of developing extreme heat vulnerability assessments for California Tribes. Users can easily access publicly available data on extreme heat vulnerability and be guided through the assessment process for their Tribe. This tool allows users to:

    • Assess extreme heat exposures and secondary exposures
    • Prioritize community assets
    • Evaluate and prioritize extreme heat impacts
    • Consider extreme heat adaptation strategies
    • Generate a data summary and a customizable and editable vulnerability report

Exposures, Impacts, and Strategies Inventory (EISI) Tool

The Exposures, Impacts, and Strategies Inventory (EISI) tool is a free customizable tool that supports Tribal communities that are conducting adaptation planning. This Microsoft Excel-based tool contains data sources needed at several decision-making steps to help your community prepare to take the most effective actions. The latest version was updated in February 2024.

Transportation Adaptation Planning Resources

The Pala Band of Mission Indians and the Jamul Indian Village of California (JIVoC) were funded by Caltrans’s 2019 Adaption Planning Grant (per Senate Bill 1) to complete the Tribal Transportation Climate Adaptation Project. A key goal of that project was to share  learnings and resources for the benefit of other Tribes throughout the U.S.

Report Template: Pala Band of Mission Indians Climate Change Vulnerability Assessment

The Pala Band of Mission Indians has assessed its vulnerability to climate change, which is summarized in this report. Climate change refers to long-term changes in usual or expected weather patterns resulting from an increase in greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. To determine Pala’s climate change vulnerability, this process entailed review of literature, data, staff knowledge, and community observations to determine to what extent Pala may be exposed to various climate changes now and in the future. 2025 Tribal Climate and Health Adaptation Summit

Realities of Tribal Climate Disaster Resilience

Fall 2025

Guided by the theme “Realities of Tribal Climate Disaster Resilience,” the Summit focused on arming Tribal-serving professionals with the knowledge and skills needed to prepare for and act during climate change-related emergencies – such as extreme temperatures, wildfires, and storms – that may affect the Tribes they serve. 

Throughout this one-day training, Tribal-serving professionals working at the intersection of climate change, health, and community wellbeing participated in interactive instruction and peer-to-peer learning activities that built knowledge and resilience in the face of climate emergencies and disasters. Organizers, guest speakers, and attendees were invited to share recent findings, successful practices, and resources that are increasing Tribal resilience to a variety of climate exposures throughout the US. The summit provided opportunities for attendees to reflect individually and connect with each other. The summit also recognized Tribes for significant progress in championing climate and health adaptation.
