EISI Adaptation Tools
For the last decade, the Tribal Climate Health Project has worked with Tribes to make it easier to understand and address their climate and health vulnerabilities. We are proud to release our latest data tool for California Tribes, designed to reduce the burden of assessing and planning for the unique impacts of extreme heat on their communities.
EISI For Extreme Heat Online Tool
Through two state Tribal Research Grant awards (1, 2), the Pala Band of Mission Indians, Public Health Alliance of Southern CA, and Prosper Sustainably teamed up to create an online extreme heat edition of the Tribal Climate Health Project’s Exposures, Impacts, and Strategies Inventory (EISI) Core tool, the program’s hallmark Excel-based tool, which covers all climate exposures.
The new EISI for Extreme Heat Online tool is a free interactive web application that streamlines the process for California Tribes to develop extreme heat vulnerability assessments. Users can now easily access publicly available data on extreme heat vulnerability and be guided through many elements of the extreme heat vulnerability assessment process for their Tribe.
This tool allows users to:

- Assess extreme heat exposures and secondary exposures
- Prioritize community assets
- Evaluate and prioritize extreme heat impacts
- Consider extreme heat adaptation strategies
- Generate a data summary and a customizable and editable vulnerability report*
